Are You Experiencing Frizzy Hair?
I have type 4 hair that has been chemically straightened and kept natural.
The number 1 problem that I have in both hair states is FRIZZ!!
I have never been someone to have naturally smooth cuticles, defined curls etc., except when my hair is drenched in water of course.
But as soon as the water dries, so do my hair strands. They stick out like an old, frayed broom. Facing multiple directions. Crying for water (and help).
Frizzy hair is pretty much what happens when your hair is dry and thirsty and tries to collect water (even just a drop) from the air. It can happen in any of these scenarios:
- Humid weather
- Application of heat to the hair (which dries the hair) or the use of warm to hot water
- Hair damage such as from coloring, blow drying on high heat, frequent hair straightening without heat protectant.
- Hair that has fine texture or of low or high porosity
In some of the scenarios above, it was not your fault. Like who can blame the weather or your genetics?!
Lucky for you, frizz is something that can be managed or controlled. Most times, you have to try different options and techniques to fine out what works best for you.
In my relaxed state, I found out by accident that a combination of hair mayonnaise deep conditioner to deep condition and hair mousse and gel worked a thousand miles better than anything I had ever tried. My hair is not even that sleek even after a fresh relaxer.
In this picture below, I had not yet discovered this magic combo.
I was only using the hair mayo deep conditioner and using a cream afterwards:
Peep the date, 11 December 2019!
Well, this was after I discovered that adding hair mousse was a game changer. Gel alone would dry up too and leave bits and pieces of dried gel in my hair. This picture was taken on the 26th of December 2019, only 15 days after! Just look at that shine 😁.
I have not had as much luck with my natural hair, which after 1001 products later, my hair is defiantly frizzy,
This led me to create my own product to tackle this common curly hair feature.
The CurlAFhair!
While the product is still cooking, why don't we talk about our hair and share what we can do to help each other. If you are a frizzy girl like me, what has your experience been like? Let us know in the comments below.
